King crabs are the largest of the commercially harvested crabs. With a leg span of up to 4 meters and an average weight of around 15 kg.
Caught in the waters of the Sea of Okhotsk, the red king crab is the most sought-after king crab species – and most pricey per unit weight to boot.
Alive, red king crab are actually a dark burgundy in color and turn bright red when they are cooked . The meat is snow-white, with highlights of bright red.
Taste-wise, king crab really stands alone, they have a sweet and succulent flavor with moist, firm and rich meat.
These impressive king crabs are known worldwide for their rich flavor and tender meat. Pair them with “Three-spoon vinegar” or sanbaizu and these delicious crabs are ready to eat!

Storage
For consumption as sashimi, best is at 2 °C, for two days upon receipt.
After which, you may keep it for up to five days to cook with pasta or use as a sauce.
Wine Pairing
Chardonnay is a great choice, but Pinot Gris, dry Riesling, classic Chablis or fine white burgundy such as Puligny-Montrachet, also have a rich mouth-feel.
